How to Shape a Military Beret Using the Beret Display Shaping Kit

Step 1:

Place the beret on your head and align the headband straight across your forehead 1 inch above your eyebrows.

Step 2:

Tighten your beret and secure the drawcord in place with a square knot. Cut the tails to approximately ½ inch in length. Tuck the tails into the headband opening.

Step 3:

Using the hard structure of the Beret Shaping Kit headpiece, shave the inside and outside of your beret. Use one shaving razor for the inside and the other for the outside.

Step 4:

Remove all of the wool shavings from your beret.

Step 5:

Using warm water, fully saturate the inside and outside of your beret. Remove the excess water from your beret prior to the next step.

Step 6:

Center the badge stay board above where the left eye would be on the Beret Shaping Kit headpiece.

Step 7:

Align the beret headband with the bottom of the Beret Shaping Kit headpiece.

Step 8:

Pinch the badge stay board with one hand and work the excess material to the right side of the beret with your other hand. Ensure that you are pulling tight while following the contour of the Beret Shaping Kit headpiece.

Final Step:

Remove the water from the drip catch on the Beret Shaping Kit base and allow your beret to dry completely.
